‘Dads Matter’ group welcomed by Wolves

WARRINGTON Wolves were wonderfully welcoming hosts to a group of dads of children with disabilities and special educational needs.

The Wolves Foundation gave the ‘Dads Matter’ group from Warrington Parents and Carers (WarrPac) tickets to the recent Super League match against Catalans Dragons. And, as if that wasn’t good enough, Wolves Deputy Chairman, Steven Broomhead, very kindly upgraded the tickets to a hospitality lounge.

As well as enjoying the wonderful hospitality and watching top class rugby league some of the group also helped out with Warrington’s bid for matches in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. They joined volunteers on the pitch to show the live Sky TV audience what a great host we would be for the top teams.

The Dads Matter group was set up earlier this year and meets every six weeks. The group has already had excellent support from the Wolves Foundation.

Steven Hallmark, member of the group, said: “We are so grateful to Warrington Wolves, WarrPac, Wolves Foundation and Steven Broomhead for giving us such a great night.

“For some of us it’s rare to get a bit of respite and usually it’s the mums who take the lead in attending the WarrPac group meetings. For the dads it’s good to have a break and a chance to talk about our challenges and offer advice and support.

“The fact that we were able to have such a special evening at the same time really lifted everyone’s spirits.

“While they may have dropped a point on the pitch, Wolves certainly made the point that they are a real community club that cares about the people of the town.

“I would encourage other dads to come along. It’s informal, fun and a really chilled out group.”
