Mindless hooligans blamed as more grass fires break out

ANOTHER grass fire believed to have been started by mindless hooligans led to Warrington firefighters being called out last night.
The blaze was off Lysander Drive, in the Padgate area,  and involved an area of about 30m by 15 metres. Crews used two hose reel jets to extinguish it.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police on 101.
Another fire last night involved a tree stump off Blackbrook Avenue, Padgate and a crew from Birchwood used a hose reel jet to put it out.
Fire engines from Birchwood and Runcorn were called to a fire involving scrubland off Mersey Walk, Warrington.
About 200 square metres was involved and crews used a main jet, light portable pump and two hose reel jets in an h our-long operation.
Crews from Warrington and Penketh were also called out to help firefighters at Widnes where a number of grass fires were raging.
