VANDALS are believed to have started another grass fire at Warrington this afternoon.
Fire engines from Birchwood and Warrington were sent to the scene, off Severn Road, Culcheth.
They found a large fire in a field, measuring about 25 metres by 25 metres, well alight.
Crews set up a water shuttle to get enough water to the area and extinguished the blaze, before checking the area for hotspots to make sure it was unlikely to flare up again.
Altogether the operation last two hours and 15 minutes.
A Fire Service spokesperson said it was believed the fire had been started deliberately and anyone who had information about it should call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
