Emergency gas leak repairs

EMERGENCY repairs are underway at Lymm following reports of a gas leak on New Road.

The repairs are being carried out by emergency gas service Cadent, who have issued a statement to reassure local residents that no one is at danger in the area.

A spokesperson for the company said: “We’re locating the source of a gas leak, most likely coming from a pipe that’s directly under the road.

“Everyone is safe, please don’t worry. Our engineers carry very sensitive equipment and the readings are not too high – but we need to find the source and fix it before this gets any worse.

“Unfortunately, this means we’ve had to block off one lane. So, to keep our workers, motorists and pedestrians safe, there are temporary traffic lights controlling the flow of vehicles around the work area. This is near to Dane Bank Road East. It’s a blind bend and would not be safe otherwise.

“We’re likely to be working in the area for a few days.

We know this is inconvenient, but we hope you understand that safety is our top priority. Thanks for your patience.”
