Callands Family Fun Day hailed a success

On yet another beautiful hot day the second annual Callands Family Fun Day has been hailed as a massive success by organisers.

Callands Family Fun day was organised and hosted by “Friends of Callands School” to create a fun event for the local Callands Community and surrounding areas.

In previous years the event had gone down the standard school fete route but In 2017 it was decided to make it more of a community event and reach out to those beyond the school gates and so the Callands Family Fun day was born.

The event proved to be more of a success than the organisers ever could have imagined and the feedback from local communities was really positive, so it was decided to do it all again this year.

Locally based Friends Lane riding school set up a pony party where children were able to groom Wizzy the pony. Stockley Farm set up a mini petting zoo with adorable baby animals which the children loved. The donkey rides proved as popular as they have always been, and it began to resemble a farm rather than a school playing field.

There were large inflatables, Cromwell Academy’s beat the goalie, glitter tattoos, raffles, tombola’s plus a host of other stalls

Entertainment was provided by local dance groups, Northern Starr & Harlies Morris Dancers who performed brilliantly despite the soaring temperatures.

Speaking on behalf of the organising committee Zoe Bracewell Allen commented ” Once again the fun day proved to be a great success, despite the heat we were overwhelmed by the turnout. Friends of Callands School is a charity committed to raising money for Callands Community Primary school and our aim over the next two years is to assist in raising funds for a Multi-Use Games Arena.”
