First ever Croft Beer Festival – a success beyond belief

MORE than 700 visitors from far and wide descended on Croft Village Memorial Hall for the first ever “Beer, Gin and Prosecco Festival”.

Croft WI ran the food counter, there was live music on both evenings – the sun shone (most of the time!)there was a “lovely atmosphere” and the event was “perfect”.

Co organisers Peter McCartney and Ben Mitchell, in conjunction with their good friends at Croft Youth Activity Centre (CYAC), were delighted with the outcome.

The event was held in order to raise funds for the continued upkeep of their respective buildings, as well as awareness of what they each provide in support of community groups and private hires – space for socialising, friendship and wellbeing.

“We took advice and guidance from Newton & District Jubilee Rotary Club – organisers of the Culcheth Beer Festival – who kindly gave us the benefit of their wisdom from their events to date.

“Many helpers gave up hours upon hours of their time, in advance, over the weekend or afterwards. Numerous contributions large and small – serving, washing up, clearing drains, creating posters – the list is endless.

“All underpinned by the generous support of our lead sponsor – Dave Monks at ‘The Horseshoe Inn’ – along with numerous sponsoring businesses, social groups, families and individuals.

“It has been a dream come true and shows what you can achieve with a vision, a belief, a plan and the collective support of others. Roll on next year!”
