FIRE broke out in a timber building at Appleton after controlled burning nearby got out of control.
The blaze was in Barleycastle Lane and fire crews from Lymm and Penketh were called to the scene yesterday afternoon.
Two hose reel jets were used to extinguish the fire and a mechanical digger was used to spread debris to make access to the site easier.
Crews were at the scene for almost an hour and the building was severely damaged.
In another incident, firefighters from Warrington were called to reports of smoke coming from a house in Willis Street, Warrington. Smoke alarms were also sounding but firefighters found, on arrival, that the cause was fumes from cooking.
A ventilation unit was used to clear smoke from the property.
