The cycle involved has been recovered – but only due to a sharp-eyed town centre CCTV operator.
Police said they were approached by a Warrington man who reported his cycle had been solve ~”right under his nose” after he had attempted to sell it on Facebook Marketplace.
He met up with the prospective buyer at Bank Quay Station and took him to his home address to view the cycle. The man had a test ride – but then was alleged to have ridden off at speed.
A town centre CCTV operator reported that a male matching the suspect’s description had been seen entering Warrington Central Station.
Police attended and located two alleged offenders and the pedal cycle. After a brief foot chase across Platform 2, the pair were arrested for an alleged theft before they could board a train and get out of town. The pedal cycle was returned to its owner.
