A Warrington motorist who improperly used a disabled parking blue badge has been ordered to pay £170 in a fine and costs by the town’s magistrates.

Neil Hanmer, 41, of Whitecross Road, Whitecross, Warrington, pleaded guilty to one charge at Warrington Magistrates Court after an investigation by Warrington Borough Council officers.

He misused the blue disabled badge, while the vehicle was parked on double yellow lines, without the blue badge holder being present.

The court fined him £40 and he will have to pay £100 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Cllr Russ Bowden, executive board member for corporate finance, said: “It is a criminal offence to use a blue badge that does not belong to you and we will continue to prosecute these offenders.”
