A FUNDRAISING lunch at Laskey Farm in Thelwall, Warrington has raised £3,000 for St Rocco’s hospice.

The event was held in memory of Bill Spencer and arranged by Howard Platt, his friend and colleague at Lockers in Warrington.

It is the third year a fundraiser has been held and Howard opened up his gardens for Bill’s wife Maggie and invited 50 of their friends along.

Maggie, 66, who lives in Stockton Heath and volunteers at St Rocco’s, said: “Everyone was so generous and we are really pleased to be able to raise this money for the hospice.

“The staff and volunteers did so much for Bill when he was a patient there and have supported us as a family since. It’s why we continue to fundraise to show our thanks.

“Howard and Wendy have been so kind, arranging the event and allowing us to use their garden and we all feel Bill would be very proud.”

Each year St Rocco’s needs to raise £3.6 million to provide care for people in Warrington with life limiting illnesses and less than a quarter of this comes from the Government.
