Two charged with attempted murder after man stabbed in neck at Orford

A man and woman from Warrington have been charged with attempted murder after a man was stabbed in the neck at Orford on Saturday.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday 9 June officers were called to reports of an incident on Clough Avenue, Orford.

On arrival at the scene officers found that a 48-year-old man had been stabbed in the neck. The man was taken to Aintree Hospital for treatment; he has since been discharged and is now recovering at home.

Following enquiries officers arrested a local man and woman in relation to the incident.

Matthew Kershaw, 50, and Joanne Sherratt, 48, have subsequently been charged with attempted murder and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon.

The pair, both of Clough Avenue, appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates’ Court earlier today (Monday 11 June) where they were remanded in custody. They are next due to appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday 9 July.
