Birchwood Carnival 2018 – huge turnout

Beautiful sunny weather helped bring thousands of fun-seekers to the Birchwood Carnival 2018

Beginning as is tradition with a procession from the games area to the central arena this year’s festival was a huge success.

A fantastic fun-filled family-friendly fair by Silcocks proved a great draw with children of all ages enjoying the rides, as did the ever-popular donkey rides. For the more adventurous thrill seekers there was a rodeo bull and a climbing wall.

Free displays included the Blackrock Llama Display Team, Karamba Samba, Vale Royal Falconry, Northern Starr Dance, Inspire School of Dance, local history displays, fun dog show and much more

The stilt wearing pirate Bubbleologist and the circus workshop delighted younger children and adults alike.

Food and drink vendors, including the Friends of Birchwood Forest Park café, made sure the day went swimmingly

Cllr Ian Atkin, Chair of Birchwood Town Council, said ” I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to making today’s carnival such a success. The team of volunteers who’ve worked all year behind the scenes as well as on the day doing the unglamorous jobs like litter picking and marshalling the car park, as well as Warrington Borough Council’s Ranger Service, Birchwood Lions, Friends of Birchwood Forest Park, those on the Carnival Committee, my fellow Councillors and Town Council staff.”

There is something so wonderfully British about community events such as these and long may they continue.
