Teenager fights off attackers in park

A 17-year-old boy fought back when two men tried to steal a holdall he was carrying in a Warrington park.
The youngster was walking through Victoria Park and was near Stringer Close when he was approached by the two offenders.
They assaulted him and tried to steal his holdall, but he refused to get go it, struggled and eventually the pair fled empty-handed.
Now police are appealing for witnesses of the attack which occurred at about 12.30pm on Saturday.
DC Jonathan Carter said: “The attempted robbery took place in a park in broad daylight. The victim was assaulted and suffered minor injuries and we are doing everything we can to try to catch the offenders and bring them to justice.”
The offenders were both slim, aged around 18-22 and one was about 6ft tall, with dark hair, a pointed nose and red spots in his beard.
He was wearing warm closed on a hot day – including black cargo pants and a faded peaked cap.
The other wore similar clothing, with a New York black peaked cap. He was around 5ft 10 inches tall and had blue eyes, blondish eyebrows and a long neck. He had a disctinctive walk, with his arms rigid at his site. Both had Warrington accents.
DC Carter added: “Enquiries are ongoing we are keen to hear from anyone who thinks they may be able to help us with our investigation.
“If you witnessed the incident, saw men matching those descriptions in the area around that time or think you may know who they are then please call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 55213, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
