WARRINGTON Wolves’ Ben Currie has vowed to bounce back after being ruled out for the rest of the season with another serious ACL knee injury.

The 23-year-old England international suffered a second anterior cruciate knee ligament injury in last weekend’s fifth round Challenge Cup victory over Bradford Bulls.

The extent of the injury was revealed by Head Coach Steve Price following last night’s Super League victory over Huddersfield Giants.

He said Currie will undergo surgery onext Wednesday, while confirming that he will not play again in 2018.

He said: “Ben Currie is going in for an ACL operation on Wednesday, which is unfortunate.

“He won’t play again this year. He’ll come back bigger and stronger though; he has many good years left.

“He’ll be looked after by our footy club. He’s held in high regard. He’s a quality person and we know he’ll do everything he can to get back as quickly as he can but it’s important he gets it right.

“I have all the confidence in our high performance staff to get him right for next year.”

Fellow members of the squad rallied posting messages of support on social media.

Currie reacted to the news on Twitter posting, “Tough to take this news.. Rather get it sorted for good tho than keep having little set backs! Long journey ahead but I WILL be back! ”
