London Marathon success will help to support disabled children

WARRINGTON based sales manager Zack Cunningham successfully completed his first ever marathon – the gruelling Virgin Money London Marathon, raising over £3,000 for charity.

Zack, aged 26, was delighted to finish the course, in 4 hours 19 minutes, raising money for Caudwell Children, the national charity that provides practical and emotional support to disabled children and their families.

He registered for one of Caudwell Children’s charity places after he was unable to secure a place through the official London Marathon Ballot.

“I was told that it was a great charity to run for because you can visibly see the change that their support makes to disabled children,” he explained.

“It’s a fantastic cause and I was impressed by how it invests and spends its donations so well.”

Although the stifling heat made the conditions difficult the former Appleton College student enjoyed the day. He added: “Taking part in the London Marathon, arguably the greatest event of its kind on the planet, was an incredible experience, one that I’ll treasure forever. When I crossed the finishing line I was extremely proud of what I’d achieved, but I also thought about the disabled children that I’ll be supporting through my fundraising.

“That made it all the more rewarding and I’d urge anyone to sign up for a Caudwell Children charity place for 2019. The support you get from the charity is simply amazing and the fact that you’re helping to provide vital services for disabled children and their families makes it really special.”

Kerrie Davies, Head of Events at Caudwell Children, said: “We can’t thank Zack enough for putting his body on the line to raise funds in this way.

“We had 21 hardy souls complete the 26.2 mile course to raise money for Caudwell Children and I’d urge anyone interested in taking part in the 2019 London Marathon, to snap up one of our charity places now.

“With over a 250,000 applications for just 35,000 places this year it will take the uncertainty out of the registration process.”
