Ambitious cricket club signs new sponsorship deal

AMBITIOUS Appleton Cricket Club have sIgned a sponsorship deal with Axminster Tools and Machinery.
The company’s name will be on the 1st XI shirt this summer and the deal will help the Lyons Lane club in its drive to climb higher up the Cheshire cricket ladder.
After being selected as one of just three ECB clubs in the country to be awarded NatWest Cricket Force Showcase status and after a lot of hard work on and off the pitch through the winter, the club is ready to build on the promotion up the Cheshire Cricket League they earned last summer.
Skipper Alex Wright said: “We’ve recruited well over the winter and enticed a few players back to the club as well as coach Bob Milne, who was instrumental in getting the club promoted.
“The club is going from strength to strength off the pitch and its time the senior team started to push on and challenge the ‘so called’ bigger clubs in the town. The cLub has a terrific ethos and every player so far during the winter has bought into what the club wants to achieve.
“I expect big things from this team. I expect us to be dominating our opponents and for us to be playing an exciting brand of cricket. Only promotion at the end of the season will be acceptable.”
Appleton’s first 1st XI game of the season last Saturday was postponed because their opponents pitch was waterlogged.
This Saturday they are due to take on Wirral at Lyons Lane.
