Warrington Town secure home play-off semi-final

WARRINGTON Town secured a home play-off semi-final with a 0-0 draw at Grantham Town.

After being held at home to Halesowen Town on Saturday, the Yellows needed a result against their nearest rivals to ensure a top three finish and make sure next Tuesday’s play-off game will be held at Cantilever Park.

The only downside to the night was a second red card in a week, with winger Mekhi Leacock-McLeod sent off for a second bookable offence, which rules him out of the play-off semi-final.

Results elsewhere mean that Paul Carden’s men still need a point to guarantee a second placed finish, which would ensure that the play-off final would also be played at home, should they make it.

The play-off picture was confirmed on Tuesday night as wins for Farsley Celtic and Ashton United meant that they confirmed their places in the top five, while the point was enough for Grantham to ensure their spot.

Warrington travel to Stourbridge to round off the regular season on Saturday.

Ticket information for the semi-final will be announced soon.
