Witness appeal after teenager robbed at knifepoint

DETECTIVES are urging witnesses to come forward following a robbery at Padgate, Warrington when a teenager was robbed of his bicycle at knifepoint.

The incident took place yesterday,  Thursday April 5, at around 6.15pm, when an 18-year-old man from Runcorn was approached by two men as he rode along a cobbled alleyway between Padgate Lane and Cornwall Street on his bicycle.

One of the men pulled out a knife and insisted that the teenager hand over his bike.

The men then fled the alleyway with the bicycle in the direction of the Betfred shop at the end of Padgate Lane.

Police are determined to catch the offenders and are urging anyone who may be able to help with their investigation to get in touch.

Detective Sergeant Mark Naylor said: “The two men subjected the victim to a terrifying ordeal that has left him extremely shaken up.

“Enquiries into this incident are ongoing and we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw two men fleeing the area with the stolen black, grey and white Giants bicycle.”

One of the men is described as black, in his late 20s and around 6’ 2” tall. He had broad shoulders and was wearing a black Nike tracksuit jacket, a black beanie hat and black North Face trousers. He fled on the bicycle following the robbery.

The other man is also described as being in his late 20s. He was white, around 5’ 11” tall and had bushy eyebrows and was wearing a light grey Nike jacket with the hood up, a black snood and dark grey jogging pants. He ran alongside the other man as they fled the scene.

DS Naylor said: “If you think you know who the men who carried out the robbery are or have any other information that help with our investigation please call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 28688, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
