Bags of clothing to help Third World countries

EIGHTY bags of clothing have been donated by pupils at Warrington’s SirThomas Boteler CE High School for children in Third World countries.
It was all part of “Bag2School” an initiative organized by history teacher Mr M Morley to support the charity Limited Resource Teacher Training (LRTT).
The charity provides high quality training and mentoring programmes for teachers who live and work in Third World countries.
More than 190 million children in developing countries cannot read and this is sparking a global learning crisis. The UN estimates that 33 countries will not have enough teachers to provide primary education by 2030
Mr Morley said: “I have been lucky enough to have been selected to represent Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School in one of the LRTT’s summer training programmes in Malaysia this July. I will connect with other inspirational teachers from around the world to support teachers in Malaysia through the running of mentoring programs and workshops to help increase the life chances of the students under their duty of care.
“In order to help support my summer mentoring programme whilst in Malaysia I have decided to organise a school wide fundraising event which I shall be co-ordinating through the organisation ‘Bag2School’. This is an organisation which collects and recycles unwanted textiles.”
