STOCKTON Heath Tennis Club has submitted a fourth application for permission to install floodlighting on its courts.
Appleton Parish Council has lodged an objection and there are objections from 19 nearby residents – plus a petition signed by 46 people.
But planning officers will recommend approval when the scheme, at the club’s site off Delphfields Road, Appleton comes before Warrington’s development management committee on Wednesday.
The club has twice before had similar applications turned down, in 1994 and 1995 and withdrew a third application last year.
When members need to play under floodlights, they use courts at the nearby Bridgewater High School.
Appleton Parish Council has objected on the grounds the scheme will lead to a loss of residential amenity for neighbouring properties.
Neighbours are worried about the glare of the floodlights affected homes, noise and disturbance of an evening.
But officers say the lights would be designed to avoid spillage of light into neighbouring homes and gardens. They propose a condition to prevent the lights being used at 8pm during the week and to prevent their use at all on Sundays.
