Red faces – as planners send letter to a loo!

THERE must have been a few red faces in Warrington Borough Council’s planning department when it emerged they had sent a letter to…a public toilet.

It wouldn’t have been quite so bad if the toilet had still been there – but it had been removed several years previously.

The mistake was discovered when a list of consultees in respect of a proposed housing development in Pepper Street, Lymm was headed by a public toilet on the Pepper Street car park.

Cllr Ian Marks (pictured) said: “It was the first address on the list and it was a public convenience. It was a third of a mile away from the proposed housing development and, in any case, it had been removed several years previously.

“It probably didn’t respond.”

A Warrington Borough Council spokesman said: “The address would have been flagged by our digital mapping system. This method is better than the bog standard method of neighbour notification but we apologise for any inconvenience.”
