The state of the art Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub in Warrington opened its doors to the public and has received an excellent response.
Special guests and local residents descended on the Great Sankey facility to receive a tour of phase one of the multi-million-pound facility.
Great Sankey Leisure Centre has been an integral part of the community for almost 40 years. West Warrington is expanding at a rapid pace, with over ten thousand new inhabitants of areas such as Chapelford Village, an upgrade of Great Sankey Leisure Centre was something that was desperately needed.

The multi-million-pound regeneration of the old Great Sankey Leisure Centre reflects this ethos through providing services that the whole of the community can benefit from.
The council’s executive board member for leisure and community, Cllr Tony Higgins, said: “The Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub is a fantastic facility that is designed for everybody in the community. It’s great news for west Warrington that the hub is now open to the public.
“I’m looking forward to the hub enjoying many years of success, helping improve the health and well-being of residents, and delivering much-needed services to the area, including state-of-the-art fitness and swimming facilities, health services, and a library – all in a dementia-friendly setting.”
