WARRINGTON’S planning chiefs have given the go-ahead for replacement lighting in the athletics arena in Victoria Park.
Eight existing lamp standards, approximately 18 ft high, will be replaced the same number of standards – but four of them will be reduced to 16 ft.
The borough’s development management committee was told the new lighting would not have any significant impact on a nearby Grade 2 listed building, nor on the nearest residential property.
Although they were sited in a flood zone, there were no flooding issues and while the site was within a wildlife corridor there were no implications for wildlife.
The LED lighting proposed would reduce glare and light pollution.
