FOUR teenagers who stopped to help a distressed man on a motorway bridge joined the Mayor and the leader of the council for lunch at Warrington Town Hall today.
Students, Kaileb Walters, James Barnshawe and Connor O’Hara, all aged 18 and Nathan Kenyon, 17 were presented with a special certificate of appreciation for their public spirit.
The teenagers came to the aid of a vulnerable and distressed man who was standing on the motorway bridge at Junction 9 of the M62 at Winwick.  They kept him talking and safe until police arrived at the scene.
Mayor Cllr Les Morgan, said: “These individuals are a credit to their families, college and peers.  They have demonstrated community spirit and acted with compassion, bravery and selflessness.”
Leader of the council, Cllr Terry O’Neill said: “Young people often get bad press so it’s great to see these individuals carrying out such a caring and kind act.  These four young students encapsulate what community spirit is all about”.
