Masked raiders grab cash from Lymm supermarket

POLICE today appealed for witnesses to come forward following a robbery at a supermarket in Lymm.
The raid was at the Co-op stgore at Chaise Meadow shortly before 9am on Thursday, January 18.
Three men entered the Co-operative store on Chaise Meadow with their faces covered.
One approached a member of staff brandishing a crow bar and demanded access to the till and keys to the safe. Concerned and terrified for their safety, the staff member complied and the man proceeded to steal cash from the till.
Meanwhile the other two men forced open the cigarette cabinet behind the till, removed the contents and put them into a large, white builders sack.
All three men then left the shop with the cash and cigarettes and got into a SUV vehicle with distinctive silver roof bars.
One man is described as 6ft tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a dark coloured, slim fitted coat with the hood pulled up over his head along with a dark coloured snood around his neck, covering his face and dark coloured tracksuit bottoms. He was also wearing distinctive red gloves, similar to a gardener’s glove, with fabric on the top and rubber on the palms. He had a slight Manchester accent.
The second man was around 5ft 8, of a stocky build and was wearing a dark top with the hood pulled over his head. He was wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and a dark snood covering his neck and pulled up covering his face. He was also wearing red gloves which looked like they were made out of tough rubber.
The third man is believed to be around 5ft 6 in height, of an average build and wearing a dark jacket with the hood pulled up over his head and a dark snood covering his neck and pulled up over his face. He was also wearing gloves which were orange fabric on top and dark black rubber on the palm, similar to gardening gloves.
Detective Constable David Schofield, of Warrington CID, said: “I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and noticed anyone or anything suspicious. Did you see a car travelling at speed between 8:50 and 9pm in the Chaise Meadow area of Lymm? If so, please come forward and report it to us, or any other information you may have, on 101.”
