Six teenagers arrested following Sankey Valley gang attack

SIX teenage boys from Warrington have now been arrested on suspicion of assault after a 35-year-old man was seriously injured in Sankey Valley Park.
The victim, who is also from Warrington, was attacked by a group of teenage boys in the park at around 4.20pm on Wednesday January 24.
He remains in a critical but stable condition hospital in Liverpool.
Two 13-year-olds and a 15-year-old were arrested on Thursday last week in relation to the incident.
A 13-year-old and a 15-year-old were arrested on Saturday morning and that night a 16-year-old attended a police station in Warrington to help detectives with their investigation and was subsequently arrested.
All six teenagers have been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Sergeant Dave Aspinall said: “I would like to thank the Warrington community for the response we have been given to our appeals for information in relation to this incident.
“A lot of people have come forward and as a result of witness statements and other information we have received we have now arrested six teenagers on suspicion of section 18 assault.
“I would like to reassure the community it appears this was an isolated incident and we are still carrying out extra patrols in the area.
“And though we have now made six arrests we are still keen to hear from anyone with any information about the incident that has yet to come forward.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident, has CCTV or dashcam footage that may help our investigation or has any other information that may be relevant for us should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 605 of January 24.
“Alternatively information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
