Police appeal after woman suffers injuries to face

POLICE today appealed for information about an incident at Culcheth in which a 22-year-old woman suffered a serious face injury.
The incident was in Jackson Avenue in the early hours of Christmas Eve.
A car window was smashed and an argument then took place between the woman and a man at the junction of Jackson Avenue and Common Lane at about 12.20am.
After the woman was injured, she was taken to hospital.
Police are anxious to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.
Sergeant Paul Fegan said: “This was a nasty incident in which the victim sustained serious injuries. She has since been discharged from hospital and is recovering at home.
“We particularly want two men – a man who was wearing a leather jacket and smoking a cigarette and a man in a red fleece – who were in the area at the time of the incident to get in touch.
“They are both believed to have witnessed what happened and we are keen to speak to them as they may have important information, which could assist with our enquiries.”
Anyone with information about the incident should call police on 101, quoting incident number 30 of December 24, 2017, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released under investigation pending further enquiries.
