Road closed following serious crash on Bewsey Road

A man has been rushed to hospital following a serious crash involving two vehicles resulting in the closure of Bewsey Road, Warrington, in both directions.

The man aged in his 40s is believed to have been seriously injured and taken to Aintree Hospital. A second person was being treated at the scene.

The collision at around 4pm today involved two vehicles near St Albans RC Primary School, causing serious traffic delays in the area with the road closed in both directions between Folly Lane and Froghall Lane.

Police say the road will remain closed until enquiries are completed following the collision between a white Toyota Prius and a white Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

The road is expected to be closed until 6.30pm.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to contact the police on 101 quoting incident 629 of January 18.
