Charity leader shortlisted for prestigious award

ANNE Boyd, chief executive officer of award winning charity Active Cheshire, has been shortlisted for the Northern Power Woman award in the “transformation leader” category.
The former project manager with town regeneration group Frodsham Forward will be attending the prestigious awards ceremony in Manchester on March 6.
Anne has forged a successful career, with more than 20 years’ experience spanning public, private and voluntary sectors, having held leadership positions within Sport England, North West Regional Development Agency  and local government as well as her own award-winning social enterprise, while single handedly raising three children.
During her five year history at Active Cheshire , Anne has transformed the charity,  rebranding and repositioning it as lead body for physical activity in the sub-region.
She also donates her spare time to the British Red Cross as vice-president and to the West Cheshire Poverty Truth Commission. She has recently been appointed onto Cheshire and Warrington LEP overview and scrutiny committee.
Anne said: “It is humbling to be shortlisted for such an esteemed award. However it is vital in traditionally male-dominated industries that we showcase the contributions that women can make, to encourage more to unveil their talent with confidence. Congratulations to all nominees.”
Active Cheshire chairman Paul Hancock said: ‘We are very proud of Anne who has rightly been recognised through the nomination process. Equality and diversity is incredibly important to the success of any business and community and we remain actively engaged in this agenda.”
In 2015, Anne won the North West Business Woman of the Year award. She was also selected as one of just 20 UK leaders to participate in a prestigious global leaders programme.
