FIRE engines from Warrington and Penketh were called to a house fire at Great Sankey in the early hours of today.
The blaze was in the kitchen of a house in Gregory Close and was out by the time firefighters reached the scene.
But they used a ventilation unit to clear smoke from the property and later carried out a home fire safety assessment.
The fire, which was discovered shortly after 2am, is believed to have been caused by an unattended cooker.
