YOUNG children at Busy Nought to Fives nursery in Great Sankey, Warrington, are set to benefit from an improved outdoor play area.
Thanks to work commissioned by Warrington Borough Council, LiveWire and Busy Nought To Fives Ltd, the nursery’s garden has been spruced up as part of the Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub development.
The nursey is situated in a single storey building on the same site as the new hub. It contains eight rooms and three large secure outdoor play areas and is registered for 129 children each week.
As part of the garden makeover, a new wooden playhouse has been installed, along with a storytelling area complete with a shade sail, a decking area and a new storage shed.
The area has been resurfaced with turf, astroturf and soft wet pour surfacing. Shrubs have been used to create a nature area and forest trail, creating a safe and fun environment.
Emma Collins, owner of Busy Nought to Fives, said: “Our garden area is an extension of the nursery itself and supports the children in their learning and development, as well as providing a safe and fun place for them to play.
“The revamped play area and new outdoor equipment will provide a stimulating educational area for the children to expand their learning outdoors. They can’t wait to spend time in new the play area.”
Cllr Tony Higgins, executive board member of leisure and community, added: “The new development of the Great Sankey Neighbourhood Hub is set to benefit a wide range of people in the area, not just customers of the new leisure, library or health facilities.
“That’s why it’s important to work with our neighbouring partners, including the nursery, to ensure their facilities can cater for an increased footfall on the site, and that the children using the nursery have the best possible educational opportunities.”
