Householder wins battle to keep his garden wall

PLANNING bosses have agreed to allow a boundary wall to remain in place at a property at Birchwood, Warrington – despite objections from a neighbour and the Town Council
But the wall in Penzance Close will be reduced in height.
Members of the borough council’s development management committee were told that Birchwood Town Council opposed the development because it incorporated the busy junction of Delenty Drive and Powell Avenue and caused sight line issues for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians.
They also believed it was out of keeping with the rest of the development, which had a more open aspect.
But officers said the wall had been built to match the property – and two neighbours who supported the scheme said the wall had been beautifully built to match other houses.
