New community mini bus fully funded!

RESIDENTS in the Burtonwood and Winwick areas of Warrington can now look forward to a full time community bus service, after enough funding was secured to buy a dedicated minibus.

Local Cllr Cathy Mitchell, who is leading the Community Bus project, said “We are delighted to have a bus of our own, so that we can move to a full time service.”

The Scheme’s Co-Ordinator, Sarah Anders said “Thank you so much to Tesco, Cheshire Community Foundation, Dougfest, the Council’s West Area Board and the Police Participatory Fund. Thank you also to Network Warrington for their ongoing advice and support in setting this scheme up. Our service is already changing lives and we want to do more.”

Local MP Helen Jones added: “Over the years I have spoken to many of my constituents in Burtonwood and Winwick who have highlighted the need for improvements to the local bus service. This great community initiative led by Cllr Mitchell will be an asset to our villages and I wish the scheme every success.”

Anyone who can help support the community service  in any way, please call Sarah on 07714 718 470 or email her on [email protected].

They are always looking for volunteer passenger assistants and drivers.

  1. As Paul Heaton once wrote ‘Oh Cathy’. I did wonder why Helen’s name is in this story when I can find absolutely no details of her involvement. Is it out of sympathy for the beleaguered MP? Or was it a condition of Helen’s team helpfully offering to write a press release on your behalf. Happy to do so, just as long as you don’t mind giving Helen a name check? It’s seems like Helen wants to take credit for everything and anything right now locally, in some kind of attempt to feature in the local media every other day. So stand on your two feet and don’t allow anyone to clutch onto your coattails in attempt to demonstrate they have support! Be your own woman Cathy!
