THE McArthur family from Warrington are once again living life in the fast lane at Oulton Park.
Dad Neil and his sons David and Tom were once again at Oulton Park recently competiting in the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship Races.
The McArthur family were al battling it out in their identical Van Diemen LA10 BM 1600 Racing cars. In race one, although finishing third ,David put up the fastest lap with a speed of 88.30 mph while his average speed for the race over 9 laps of the Oulton Park International Circuit was 86.88 mph.
Brother Tom finished in fourth place while dad Neil finished in eighth place.
Their second race was reduced to 6 laps due the safety car being deployed because of incidents of the track. In the second race the McArthur’s were again taking podium places, David finishing second (in an average speed of 60.53 mph)and Tom finishing third (in an average speed of 60.50 mph). Dad Neil finishing in sixth place (with an average speed of (59.65 mph).
Again David put up the fastest lap time; 87.55 mph.
“Before the start of race two I thought Tom would win as he was really going well in the first race” said David. “The safety car shortened the race and I did not have enough laps to make up the time” said Tom.
Neil added: ” Both races were very close and it was a battle to the end made even harder by the lack of laps due to the safety car being deployed”.
