ABOUBACAR Sanogo came off the bench to score the winner as Warrington Town returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory at Barwell.
Sanogo’s cross from the right looped over ‘keeper Max Smith-Varnam, 12 minutes after he had replaced Josh Hine.
The three points was the most important thing for Paul Carden’s side following Tuesday night’s disappointing 2-0 defeat at Ashton, their only defeat away from home this season.
Indeed Barwell has proven a tricky place to go this season, with league leaders Shaw Lane succumbing to a 1-0 defeat there last weekend.
The return of Jamie McDonald up front brought a notable improvement for the Yellows, who started the game by creating a number of chances.
It took til the 75th minute for them to break the deadlock, through Sanogo, though Smith-Varnam walking away with the man of the match reward perhaps reflects his contribution.
