BRITISH Transport Police are searching for a man who was abusive to a train guard at Bircwhood Station.
They would like to speak to a man captured on CCTV at the station.
A spokesman said an argument developed about a train fare when a guard was checking tickets on board a train at Birchwood at about 9.50am on September 22.
The guard challenged a man who was hiding in the toilets and who was in possession of a child’s ticket rather than that of an adult.
When the man was asked to leave the train at Birchwood, he threw a newspaper at the guard and then took a piece of chewing gum from his mouth and threw it at the guard.
The piece of gum landed on the guard’s spectacles.
A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Behaviour like this will not be tolerated.
“We would like to speak to the man in the picture. We believe he may have information which could help our investigation.”
Anyone who can help should call 0800 40 50 40 or text 61016, quoting incident 164 of September 22.
