TWO teachers from Warrington fronted a nationwide campaign from the British Council to promote its Connecting Classrooms initiative.
Angela Skelton and Hannah Kerrigan, teachers at Bruche Primary School,  starred in the campaign to attract more people into the project.
The campaign included placements across social media platforms like Facebook and in national newspapers.
Through the Connecting Classrooms scheme, Angela and Hannah travelled to South Africa to take part in an international teacher exchange.
Angela Skelton said: “I hope that telling my story will encourage more schools to take part in Connecting Classrooms.
“It is so rewarding for teachers and our pupils to be part of this programme. We’re getting the chance to help young people in Warrington to develop the knowledge, skills and values to live and work in a global world.
“”The Core Skills training enabled me to reflect on, and improve, my own  skills in the classroom and share good practice with our partner school in South Africa. Being able to experience the country first hand has also given me a deeper understanding of the similarities and differences between us.
The memories I have from our visit will last a lifetime.”
Stephen Hull from the British Council, said: “Angela and Hannah are two of just a handful of pioneering teachers who have been picked to star in our advertising campaign, which explains what Connecting Classrooms can do for schools all over the North West.
“Connecting Classrooms helps pupils and their teachers to work with their peers in schools all over the world. For Angela and Hannah that’s meant
learning about classrooms in South Africa and the things that unite us, wherever we are in the world.
“We want other pupils in Warrington to build long-term links with schools all over the world. That’s why we’re delighted Angela and Hannah are helping us
share this message. Teachers across the county can apply now to be part of Connecting Classrooms.”
