Festival’s special events for families

THE Warrington Festival continues this weekend with two special events for families.
Warrington Wolves and Walton Hall and Country Park are joining in the festivities by offering up something for everyone to enjoy.
First up is the Warrington Wolves Family Mile at Victoria Park Asics Arena, tomorrow (Saturday).
The event aims to encourage everyone to get active – regardless of their physical ability – from toddlers and teens, through to parents and grandparents.
It costs £5 to enter the family mile but for those who don’t wish to run, there will be a range of other activities and stalls available around the park.
Organised by the Warrington Wolves Foundation, it’s a great opportunity for local groups to get involved, including community clubs, scouts and girl guides. Groups are welcome to campaign for their own sponsorship and raise money for their organisation.
Then on Sunday, it’s the Walton Hall Gardens Country Fair from 11am – 4.30pm.
The free event will offer traditional rural crafts, live bands and craft stalls, a children’s fun fair, farmers market, and gourmet hot food.
People can also enjoy classic cars, English civil war re-enactments, dog agility displays, a mountain bike show, talks from local history groups and more.
Warrington Borough Council’s lead member for culture and partnerships, Cllr Dan Price, said: “Warrington Festival 2017 got off to an absolutely fantastic start with RivFest, and I’m delighted that we are keeping the momentum going with another fantastic weekend of events for families to enjoy.
“I would urge everyone to get along to The Family Mile and Country Fair, get involved and have fun. They will both be superb events, showcasing some of the fantastic cultural, leisure and sporting activities we have on offer here in Warrington.”
