Firefighters help rescue dog from water

FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a dog which had become stuck in water in the River Mersey off Manchester Road, Warrington.

One fire engine from Warrington plus the rope rescue unit and a fire engine from Lymm and the animal rescue unit from Bollington attended at the scene yesterday (Wednesday) at 16.47.

The dog was stuck in water and needed the help of firefighters to get out. The crews used swift water gear and a short ladder to reach the dog and get it back on dry land.

Plumrose the 17-month-old Labrador caused a splash after jumping into the River Mersey. The dog couldn’t quite manage to get back out, due to the embankment being too steep.
