A concerned son has issued images of his mother recovering in hospital to highlight the dangers of driving under the influence of drink and drugs following a multiple vehicle collision at Lymm.

Claire Carlson, aged 52 from High Legh, was a victim of the multi-vehicle collision at Lymm yesterday evening and had to be cut from her vehicle.

It is believed the collision was as a result of a drink and or drug driving incident.

Claire’s son Luke said: “As far as injuries she has been very lucky and her organs scans and x-rays have come back clear. She has however suffered damage to her neck and back the extent of which can’t be fully determined yet. She also suffered lacerations and burns from the seat belt and lacerations from the glass.”

She had glass embedded in her skin, all over her upper body and face and soft tissue damage to her knees and one elbow. She was also bleeding from the ears and nose after the impact.

She also suffered damage to her reconstruction area of a mastectomy she had a few years ago due to cancer.

Luke added: “People really do need to be educated in these things at school and in their communities.”

“Thank god we have the new fire station facility in Lymm for firefighters to come and cut her out or she could of been waiting even longer!

Luke also praised the actions of a young man from the navy who helped at the scene. he helped her, inspected her injuries and organised the people at the scene as well as the calls to emergency services.

He posted pictures of his mother and her vehicle on social media to warn of the dangers and gave warrington-worldwide permission to reproduce them.
