Travellers evicted from sports fields at Fearnhead

WARRINGTON Borough Council has successfully evicted travellers from sports fields at Fearnhead, 10 days after they arrived at the site.

The council obtained an eviction notice yesterday after the travellers had ignored a Section 77 notice to vacate the site.

The encampment arrived on the council owned sports fields near Padgate campus on Sunday, July 2.

The encampment of five vehicles and associated vehicles has now left the land, although the council is now investigating reports of three caravans and associated vehicles on a grass verge near Birchwood Golf Club.
