A MAJOR refurbishment could take place at a Warrington community centre if Town Hall bosses give the go ahead.
The borough council’s executive board will be asked to approved a £294,000 facelift for Fearnhead Cross Youth and Community Centre when it meets on Monday, July 10
A full internal refurbishment and minor remodelling of the centre would take place, including the creation of a second kitchen in an existing storage room, changes to the office layout and replacement of all external roller shutters.
The centre delivers a range of activities, including training, volunteering, community development activities, networking sessions and events, information sharing and access to IT and internet facilities.
Cllr Tony Higgins, the council’s lead member for leisure and community, said: “This refurbishment project is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the offer available to residents in Fearnhead and the surrounding area.
“It will help to revitalise activities being delivered in the centre and proactively support the health and wellbeing of residents.”
Consultation with local residents and community groups was undertaken through the Fearnhead Management Committee prior to the recommendations being made.
The management committee, in partnership with the parish council, will continue to deliver activities in the centre following refurbishment.

    • Is this another example of “recycling money” that has previously been given the nod, to make it seem the Council is better than we thought and/or know it is?
