Queen’s Birthday Honours for Warrington health workers

THE Queen’s Birthday Honours list celebrate three Warrington people involved in Healthcare.

Thomas Anthony (known as Tony) Whitfield from Appleton, who has served as finance director in a number of north-west hospitals and recently retired from Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has been awarded an OBE for services to the NHS.

A nurse consultant in dual diagnosis at Warrington based North West Boroughs Healthcare and NHS Trust, Dr Philip Cooper, who lives in Whiston, was awarded an MBE for services to nursing.

He has particular interest in ensuring thorough assessment of mental health and substance abuse in one service setting. He co-founded State of Mind Sport Charity that raises awareness and promotes mental fitness to prevent suicide using the power of sport. He is a supporter of Warrington Wolves and enjoys running, climbing and walking.

Carol Chapman from St John Fellowship, Cheshire was awarded a British Empire Medal for services to St John Ambulance.
