Trapped by CCTV – Bulgarian thieves in Warrington

TWO Bulgarian women have been found guilty in their absence of a series of purse thefts in Warrington – mostly from elderly women.
The pair were arrested back in February after an operation involving town centre police officers in Warrington and borough council CCTV operators who helped officers track the women around the town.
The offences are also linked to other similar offences in Birmingham.
A police spokesperson said: “The victims for these crimes included a number of elderly females who were left very shaken by what had taken place. In some cases, they had lost large quantities of cash and personal items.”
The two offenders have been found guilty of eight offences. They will be sentenced shortly in the Crown Court.

  1. Perhaps if the police released mugshots of this pair, it might encourage other victims to come forward. They are no doubt responsible for more thefts in the area,.

  2. Could I ask why you feel it appropriate or necessary to highlight the ethnicity of the women? What they did was awful. it would be awful whoever did it. Highlighting their ethnicity is provocative, particularly in the current climate of an increase in hate crime
