Police appeal after £300 stolen from pensioner

POLICE at Warrington have today released CCTV images of a woman they wish to speak to following a theft in the town centre.
It was at about 3.30pm on Saturday May 27 that a woman visited the toilets at Warrington Bus Station on Horsemarket Street, where she accidently left her handbag, which contained approximately £300 cash.
She woman returned to the toilets about 10 minutes later to find the handbag had been taken.
PC Graham Davies said: “The victim in this case is a 77-year-old local woman who has lost over £300 and we are keen to do all that we can to support her and find out who stole her handbag.
“As part of the investigation I am keen to speak to the woman featured in the CCTV footage as I believe that she may hold vital information.
“I ask anyone who recognises the woman to get in touch with the team here at Warrington on 101. I’d also like to appeal directly to the woman herself and ask her to contact us so that we can reunite the victim with her property.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 712 of 27/5/2017. Information can also be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

  1. Good to see such a clear cctv still image for once and it shouldn’t be hard for someone to recognise the person from that image.
    What isn’t clear from the story is if this is the woman they think may have actually taken the ladies bag or if she is just someone who [from cctv] had been in the vicinity at the time and who the police hope may remember seeing something or someone if she is tracked down as they say… ‘As part of the investigation I am keen to speak to the woman featured in the CCTV footage as I believe that she may hold vital information’ etc etc.

    If all she is wanted for is as a possible witness then I bet she’s not to happy about her face being splashed across the news pages as most will presume it WAS her who stole it.

    All a bit confusing but either way hopefully someone will recognose her or she will contact the police herself…..
