Three charged with modern day slavery in Warrington

THREE people from Warrington have been charged following an investigation into modern day slavery in the town.

Two men Augustin Marin, 46, Cobden Street, Warrington and Ionut Constantina , 39, from Hardy Street, Warrington and one woman, Mihaela Constantina, 40, from Hardy Street, Warrington appeared at North Cheshire Magistrates Court on 8 June.

At 10.28pm on 6 June 2017 police were called to Winwick Road in Warrington following concerns for the welfare of a 20-year-old woman.

Police attended and following enquiries into the circumstances arrested the three accused on suspicion of human trafficking.

They were later charged with offences under the Modern Slavery Act and under the Sexual Offences Act.
