THREE people have been arrested during a human trafficking investigation following concerns for the welfare of a 20-year-old woman.

Officers were called to Winwick Road in Warrington at 10.28pm last night (June 6) following concerns for the welfare of the young woman.

Following enquiries two men aged 36 and 46, and a 40-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of human trafficking.

DI Paul Hughes said: “The victim is being supported and has been offered the necessary help and safeguarding to ensure she is safe from harm.

“Cheshire Police is working with partners to tackle modern slavery in the county but also relies on information from the public, so it’s important everyone is aware of the signs that could mean modern slavery is happening in our community. More information about how to spot the signs of modern day slavery can be found on the Constabulary website and any suspicions should be reported to police.”
