LiveWire is delighted to have teamed up with British Triathlon to bring a chain of exciting events to Warrington this year that all abilities can get involved with.

Orford Park Go Tri triathlon is back for its third year next month. The event, which takes place on Sunday June 4, is designed for beginner triathletes and is open to anyone over the age of 14 at just £8 per place.

Participants will aim to complete a 250m swim, 5.5km flat bike ride around the park and a 3km run to sprint to the finish line to receive their medal.

There is also the opportunity to complete the event in a relay and share the disciplines with other participants.

LiveWire is also launching a brand new triathlon initiative for ladies only this June. The six week programme will focus on training novice triathletes to complete the three sport challenge and will be led by a British Triathlon coach.

The course will run from Sunday June 18 and will conclude with a Go Tri challenge on Sunday 23 July. All females over the age of 14 are welcome to take part and the course costs just £10 for the full six weeks.

There’s also something on offer for experienced triathletes. LiveWire is one of the first places in the country to host the British Triathlon Community Activators course, which gives budding coaches the skills necessary to support people to get into the sport. The course costs just £85 per person.

Louise Shannon, health inclusion officer at LiveWire, said: “Triathlon is one of the UK’s fastest growing sports and it’s great to see the beginner entry level end of the market really flourishing.

Similar to the cycling and running initiatives that have been popular across the UK, novice training camps, the brand new community activator course, and Go Tri events provide the perfect path for people to get into the sport in a friendly, informal, and low pressure environment with likeminded people.”

Oliver Heald, from British Triathlon, added: “We are pleased to be working with LiveWire to offer these fantastic opportunities for novices and volunteers to get involved in triathlon.

After the success of last year’s Go Tri, it is great to see that more events have been added and that we can offer the training sessions to help people work towards the events.

LiveWire’s excellent facilities make it the perfect place to host these events and provide a great opportunity for triathlon to expand in an already bustling area.’’
