Lighting plan for historic war memorial

PLANNING chiefs at Warrington are being asked to approved proposals to illuminate the war memorial at Rixton-with-Glazebrook.
The Grade 2 Listed memorial stands at the junction of Dam Lane and School Lane and dates from around 1920.
It bears the names of 12 “men of Hollinfare” who were killed during World War 1 and three who died in World War 2.
The application has been made by the Hollinfare Shine the Light group who represent the local community and wish to improve the visual amenity of the area and commemorate the local men who fell in the two wars.  The proposal is for ground level lighting.
Officers are recommending the scheme be approved. They say the lighting will help preserve a historic part of the village.
