Two and-a-half hour battle to rescue horse from canal

FIREFIGHTERS struggled for nearly two and-a-half hours to rescue a horse from the Bridgewater Canal at Lymm.
Two fire engines from Stockton Heath and the brigade’s animal rescue unit from Knutsford were involved in the operation.
Safe systems of work were set up for the animal rescue team to get the horse out of the water and firefighters in lifejackets entered the water.
Theyh managed to cut barbed wire away from the frightened animal.
A vet was called to the scene to check on the horse’s condition.

  1. This is the result of fly grazing that the council were aware of and could have prevented. Inept lazy council who won’t face up to the perpetrator. Well done to the emergency services!
